Big Blue: Juggs Of Justice – How To Humanize Fetishes

Big Blue: Juggs of Justice is the rare opportunity to do comic reviews here on Gutternaut. MFR is PG-13 and I’d rather not put potential advertising for Mase Corgan’s project behind a full Patreon wall. Just because something is aimed squarely at adults doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be public. That being said, erotic content from artists Mariano Navarro and colorist Hernan Cabrera (PortalComic) will be censored through Patreon patches. It goes without saying that this content is NSFW so enter at minimal risk.

Who Is Big Blue?

Big Blue is the series comic readers might’ve seen across the web like Top Web Comics ads, Kickstarter, Amazon, and Comixology. Mase Corgan really goes all out to get this little project out. People like Corgan’s granddaughter know that adult comics are in demand. A couple of adult content websites did offer their stuff for free at the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak. Even psychologists imply these times are good for getting T&A business running. The release of the complete collection on February 26, just before quarantine was good timing.

As for what this is all about, Big Blue revolves around the titular character Yaelin a morphogenic alien of an all-women species. In Corgan’s words, she came in reaction to seeing female superheroes with large busts. Characters like Power Girl certainly have a story around their endowments. So Corgan decides to make Yaelin’s powers be her boobs, meaning she’s able to lift heavy objects with them and stretch them out for blows. Her areola is even stronger than steel. If there was ever an erotic parody of superheroes it’s here.

Not Just Eroticism

Yet saying that this is just to make fun of superheroes who are practically pin-up models is a disservice. Corgan goes to lengths to display the life of Big Blue’s secret identity Tara Taylor. While her job as a reporter makes practical sense when it comes to helping Yaelin, it’s her budding relationship with her coworker Renato that shines brightest. Neither Tara or Renato resemble the supermodel figures that tend to appear as superhero love interests. Their attitudes during conversation like when they jumble words also feel pretty relatable. Because who actually does relate to a sweet talking casanova? This depiction makes both characters feel a little more like real people instead of fetish fuel.

This is of greater importance than people think because while Tara is attracted to Renato, Yaelin is biologically asexual. Yeah the designs of Big Blue in action show that she’s naked but lacks a vagina, which calls into question why she even has nipples. But nobody really cares about that. Rather it brings up a lot of interesting questions that people would like to discuss. Like how different Tara is in terms of appearance and bodily function. It’s certainly queer and kink friendly enough. Neither does it stop Tara and Renato from having an intimate relationship after some bonding.

No Shame!

Which brings to the central conflicts of Big Blue. Now there are a lot of factors that would probably drive people away from this series. Like say naked women running around hitting people with their giant elastic bazongas. Tara even covers her news story because the average person would treat all of this as a joke. It’s that kind of self-awareness that would make things just a little more memorable. Any form of body shaming, no matter how subtle gets taken down here. Size really isn’t everything whether it’s the bust, height, body shape, or phallus all are on display. The only time shame actually comes into effect is when anybody uses their “assets” for destructive reasons. The biggest critics are the ones who slut shame on first impression and confirmation bias, which is the hidden antagonist Nucleus’ operandi.

Big Blue Picture

A cut subplot

Mariano Navarro and Hernan Cabrera have a rather impressive resume in both erotic art and mainstream comics. On their website you can even find work promoting the Snyder Cut Justice League movie. That and their work on a personal project called Von Bach. A number of artists (who I will not bring up by name for various reasons) try to stick to pin-up-like artwork. Some of them create the erotic variety even in non-erotic situations. But in Big Blue there’s no fear of doing that by accident. Their past experience allow Navarro and Cabrera to selectively draw out scenes without unnecessary distractions.

Just a little something to remember the good times

Naturally there are a number of pictures that did not get into the final pages. So some artists work to bring their art in to help build some complementary elements. For example, human antagonist Elaine Gantry fondness for the “endowments” actually extends to her sponsor Nucleus. Another comes from Tara and Renato’s love scene that limits to a couple pages. Adult comic artist Scarlett Ann decided to do something for this by contributing some art. Others don’t even include the steamy stuff, just the important down-to-earth moments as a picture from Jinky Coronado attests to.

Collecting The Whole

All of the above in mind serve as good reasons to get the entire collection. Not just for the sexy stuff but what makes these scenes the better for them. It’s not just the physical features that make something good but what pushes them to action. Whether it’s some form of duty or discovering parts of yourself with someone special. Sex positivity is okay as long as it doesn’t have to involve any form of shaming. There will still be people who object to the content, but they don’t speak for everyone. Overall the entire experience gets an 8.5/10 for an absurd sexy story with genuine human connection. The only thing missing is the advertised back pain.
